I've been awful at taking pictures lately, which is usually the motivating factor to write a blog post at all. So here's just a short, boring update. You should probably stop reading. It's boring.
We're officially Californians! We spent Friday at the DMV getting the license plates and driver's licenses to prove it. Some unfortunate things happened at the DMV that day. First, as I just barely avoided failing a written driving test (should have studied up on my drunk driving laws apparently), Seth accepted our new license plates... 6SAX8649 -- not my first choice in an 8 digit sequence in which to identify myself. In my opinion, they shouldn't be issuing plates with the letters S and X in such close proximity, but who am I to make the rules? Second, I look utterly Chinese in my picture. Now before you go calling me racist I'll have you know that one of my very best friends (shout out to Justin) is Chinese and I hope to one day have at least one Chinese baby. I just don't have the heritage to justify these squinty eyes. Dad: white. Mom: white. No Chinese eyes there. And alas, my new driver's license. Um, ma'am, are your eyes open?
Saturday we spent the day in Walnut Creek. We started the day slaving under the hot sun pouring cement to begin Eric's Eagle Scout project. I'm exaggerating, it wasn't that hot and we weren't really slaves. In fact, around family you'd think I had a terrible disability - not a pregnancy. I'm hardly allowed to lift a finger without insisting my doctor told me I could. I'll admit, the special treatment does feel good every once in awhile. After getting the cement poured (where I was the tape measure specialist) we lounged in the pool the rest of the day. Max especially enjoyed this. When I get the picture from my mom-in-law I'll post it, but until then just imagine: big dog, bigger pool, inflatable raft. He was living the high life. Apparently he was also snacking on unripened tomatoes when we weren't looking. We woke up to the tell-tale gut wrenching sound of that lovely surprise coming back up this morning. On the new carpet. Delightful.
So there you have it, my boring account of our relaxing weekend. You really read the whole thing?
Yes. I did. and when you get to your third trimester, you will also read blogs at 5 and 6 am. :) I'm sorry for your licence plate agony! You're in California now, and our license plates are boring and ugly, so don't worry, no one will be looking at it. :)
